I Apologize, a sly chapbook by Sydney Wilder, takes its inspiration from two poets named Williams—William Carlos and Emmet—to mordant effect. Wilder’s penchant for finding creative ways to apologize over email is akin to William Carlos Williams’ infamous poem “Plums,” a precursor, of sorts, to #sorrynotsorry. Wilder then organizes her various contritions into a poetry writing machine inspired by Emmet Williams’ poem “IBM.”
